One of the coolest things about having a chronic illness is the awareness days or weeks. I love seeing everyone's posts for the themes and working with my friends to make a joint post, and just experiencing the entire day.
This year's theme for World IBD Day is "Break the Silence." One of the hardest things for me in the beginning of this journey was to speak about my IBD. When I first created my instagram for my chronic illnesses, I made it because I wanted to see what all the "influencers" were posting so I could learn what helped them and see what I could do differently. Somehow through seeing what they posted, I decided to start posting my journey for myself to see how far I have come and the growth I have made and then if it helps anyone like these accounts of helped me, that would be amazing.
I love this theme of "Break the Silence" because breaking the silence about Crohns has changed my life. It brought me some of the most amazing friends that I talk to on a daily basis. It has taught me more about myself than I ever knew before. It has taught me to fight for my health and ask for a second opinion when it comes to doctors.
